To help make our communities better places for everyone to live, the Trust has identified key Programme Funding Areas to guide the Trust's grant making (see below).
Each Funding Area has a related Funding Policy for Special Grants - to find out more about what the Trust funds and the levels of funding you can apply for, please follow the links below to read the full Funding Policy before you complete an Application Form for a Special Grant.
Learning
To support projects that facilitate improved educational outcomes for people in our region, including innovative projects and lifelong learning, the Trust will consider applications from eligible organisations for:
Early Childhood Learning (0-4 Years): Early Childhood Education organisations (kindergartens, playcentres, community childcare centres, kohanga reo and playgroups) may apply for Building projects - facility upgrades, Playgrounds - upgrades & equipment, Professional development, and Community learning projects.
Youth Learning (5-24 Years): Primary, Intermediate and Secondary School BoTs, and other eligible community organisations may apply for Building and Facility projects, ICT projects, Professional development, Innovative community learning programmes, Literacy and numeracy projects (Primary and Intermediate schools only).
Adult Learning (25-65 Years): Community organisations, such as non-profit adult training providers, may apply for Community learning and/ or Innovative skills gaps projects.
Older People's Learning (65+ Years): Adult learning organisations, such as non-profit training providers, may apply for funding towards programmes to Enhance community learning for Older People.
Applications for projects which include a combination of the above may also be considered.

Health and Rescue Services
To support and strengthen at a local and regional level organisations that provide rescue services and improve the health of the people in our region, the Trust will consider applications from eligible regional and community organisations for:
Facilities - support towards new buildings and upgrades to existing buildings (all applications for facilities $50,000 and over can only be made by eligible organisations with an accepted Expression of Interest and will be assessed against a regional facility development matrix).
Equipment, Organisational infrastructure, Professional development, Public programmes and activities, Regional strategic collaboration, and Health research and evaluation.
Applications for projects which include a combination of the above may also be considered.

Community Wellbeing
To support organisations that actively reduce the negative impact of social problems on our communities the Trust will consider applications from eligible regional and community organisations for:
Facilities, Equipment and resources, Organisational infrastructure, Professional development and training, Programmes and activities, and Research and evaluation.
Applications for projects which include a combination of the above may also be considered.

Recreation and Sport
To support individuals and organisations that focus on participation in recreation, sport, and provide for development and excellence, the Trust will consider applications from the Regional Sports Trust and other eligible regional sports and recreation organisations, clubs and community organisations, for:
Facilities - building and grounds upgrades, and new facilities (applications for facilities Over $50,000 can only be made by organisations with an accepted Expression of Interest and will be assessed against a regional facility development matrix).
Development and Excellence - Increasing organisational capability, Supporting regional collaboration, strategy development and implementation, Supporting coaching, mentoring and training, and Encouraging high performance.
Encouraging Participation - including funding for equipment, uniforms, team fees and travel (to regional and national tournaments only) and Recreational and Sports Events and Conferences.
Applications for projects which include a combination of the above may also be considered.

Arts, Culture and Heritage
To support creative projects and organisations that aim to foster access to, engagement with and experience in arts and culture and/or that preserve and promote the physical and cultural heritage of our region the Trust will consider applications from eligible regional and community organisations for:
Encouraging Participation and Access, Events and Festivals - operational costs of staging arts, cultural and heritage events and festivals, Infrastructure and facilities, Touring Productions, Development and excellence - Increasing organisational capability, Supporting regional collaboration, strategy development and implementation, Supporting training, mentoring, professional development and development of excellence, and Preserving and promoting Physical and Cultural Heritage.
Applications for projects which include a combination of the above may also be considered (with the exception of national and internationally recognised events).

Environment
To support projects and organisations that protect and enhance the environment in which we live the Trust will consider applications from eligible regional and community organisations for:
Facilities projects (Applications for Over $50,000 can only be made by eligible regional or community organisations with an accepted Expression of Interest for a regional facility)
Equipment and resources, Organisational infrastructure, Professional development and training, Programmes and activities, and Research and Evaluation.
Applications for projects which include a combination of the above may also be considered.
