Rotokare Scenic Reserve Trust

The Trust was given $1.25 million to assist with the purchase, erection and maintenance of a pest proof fence and related works (including a caretaker’s residence) at the 212 hectare reserve, 12km east of Eltham. The fence will help protect existing birdlife and reintroduce lost species, such as whiteheads, brown teal, saddlebacks, kaka and ultimately the kokako.   Trustees were given a tour of progress in May.
